Moderator to Special Ministerial Training Program Students: Ministry Is More Than a Title

The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has emphasized the importance of legacy and leadership accountability to students of the Special Ministerial Training (SMT) program.

During a special address to 153 students from the 2022 and 2025 intakes at the Church House in Accra, the Moderator called on them to view ministry not merely as a career, but as a sacred trust that demands integrity, discipline, and a vision for impact.

“Check your moral conduct,” he cautioned, urging the trainees to be mindful of their character both in private and public life. “Develop proper attitude and approach to your postings,” he added, highlighting the Church’s commitment to raising ministers who lead by example.

In a special charge to the final-year students, he stressed the weight of their calling. “Take your calling seriously, and serve with humility and excellence,” he said.

He also rallied the students to actively contribute to the Church’s future, particularly the growth agenda and the Kutunse Conference Centre project, an initiative seen as a key pillar in PCG’s long-term infrastructure and ministry development.

His message was a timely reminder that the mantle of ministry leadership is not inherited, it is earned through faithfulness, moral uprightness, and servant-heartedness
