The Rhema Evangelical Mission (REM), in collaboration with the Yenyung Graduate University in South Korea, has held a maiden three-day global leadership conference in Ghana.
The conference, which brought together Christians and other stakeholders across the country and the continent, was held on the theme: “In the Name of Jesus Rise Up Ghana.”
Professor Duke Ofosu-Anim, a lecturer at Yenyung Graduate University and the Assistant Director for REM, speaking with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the mission was a non-denominational group made up of Christians from various countries having a common goal to propagate the gospel all over the world.
Professor Ofosu-Anim stated that even though the organisation has held conferences in many parts of the world, including East Africa, West Africa had been a green area to them; therefore, they resolved to hold a maiden sub-regional conference in Accra, Ghana.
He said Ghana needs to raise Christians and upright leaders who occupy leadership roles in its political system.
The don said further that being a follower of Christ must show in the lives of leaders by practicing righteousness in governance and in the society, standing with uprightness and integrity to abstain from cronyism, corruption and bribery.

“We want to raise leaders that can stand for the truth and live upright in our society and the country through raising REM members to occupy leadership positions as well,” Prof Ofosu-Anim said.
Mr Jake Lee, Worshipper, and Media Director for REM, stated that the mission commenced its conferences in 1990 in Los Angeles, USA, adding that since then, it has held numerous conferences across the globe.
Mr Lee noted that their purpose was to evangelise to all nations to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth, noting that they teach very basic but core messages from the Bible, with programmes covering topics such as “Who We Are”, “What am I”, “Who Jesus is”, “Who is the Holy Spirit”, “How do We Call Upon the Name of Jesus”, “It is Crucial to Forgive Others”, and “How to Become the Salt and Light in the World.”
He said: “Our ministry has a sister school called Yemyung Graduate University where hundreds of foreign students study in Korea.
“Among those students, Ghanaians are the second largest, and they participated in REM conferences in Korea. They were blessed by the messages and had hopes that one day the REM conference could happen in Ghana too.”
Mr Lee announced that the Mission was trying to establish good and healthy relationships with Ghanaian churches and universities, adding that, the mission had already signed memoranda of understanding (MOU) with universities in Ghana which would be expanded.

Meanwhile some of the participants shared their experience with GNA, stating that the conference was impactful through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the biblical teachings and called for it to be an annual programme in Ghana.
