Ghana’s leading church figures are expanding their ministries beyond the pulpit and into the digital space, amassing millions of followers across major social media platforms.
A new tally of online engagement shows that these men of God are leveraging Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) to spread their messages globally.
The top numbers for the five biggest social platforms in Ghana are;
Facebook – Bishop Dag Heward-Mills has 3.8 million followers.
YouTube – Pastor Agyemang Elvis has 1.17 million subscribers,
Twitter (X) – Pastor Mensah Otabil maintains 1 million followers.
Instagram – Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams records 452,000 followers,
TikTok – Rev. Obofour counts 840,000 followers.
Topping the chart when we combine the numbers from the five social media platforms is Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, Founder of the United Denominations Originating from the Lighthouse Group of Churches, with a remarkable 5.53 million followers.
Close behind is Pastor Agyemang Elvis, the face of the popular Alpha Hour movement, with 3.66 million followers spread across YouTube (1.17M), TikTok (658.1K), and Facebook (1.5M).
Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, General Overseer of Action Chapel International, ranks third with 3.07 million followers, driven by large audiences on Facebook (1.7M) and Instagram (452K).
Meanwhile, Pastor Mensa Otabil, General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), maintains 2.72 million followers, including 1 million on X and over 1.2 million on Facebook.
Among other senior leaders, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare records 1.23 million followers, while Apostle General Sam Korankye Ankrah has just over 1 million.
Pastor Eastwood Anaba (1.43M), Prophet Dr. Kofi Oduro (1.33M), and Rev. Obofour Ministries (1.28M) also feature prominently in the million-plus bracket.
Several others are steadily carving out a strong digital presence. Pastor Richard C. Whitcomb of Agape House has 877,000 followers, Prophet Victor Kusi Boateng has 452,000, and Dr. Michael Boadi Nyamekye commands 351,000.
Prophets Bernard ElBernard Nelson-Eshun (326K), Emmanuel Adjei (318K), and Bishop Daniel Obinim (376K) also continue to grow their audiences.
At the grassroots, ministers like APOSTLE ERIC NYAMEKYE of the Church of Pentecost, with 282k, Apostle Dr. Isaac Owusu-Bempah (165K), Prophet Akwasi Agyeman Prempeh (242K), Rev. Abraham Lamptey (185K), and Bishop Gideon Titi-Ofei (129K) are embracing social media as a powerful extension of their ministry.
These figures reflect not just popularity, but the growing role of digital platforms in spreading faith-based messages and engaging wider audiences.
As social media continues to shape conversations globally, the strong online presence of Ghana’s leading ministers’ underscores how technology and ministry now move hand in hand, reaching millions beyond the walls of the church.
