The Sunday School Department of the Greater Accra West Region of the Assemblies of God Church has honoured its Regional Superintendent, Rev. Michael Ayesu, together with sixteen of its longest-serving teachers, at a colourful awards ceremony held in Accra.
Rev. Ayesu received the Distinguished Leadership Award during the department’s final regional seminar for the year 2025, held at the Liberty Centre Assemblies of God, Lapaz.
In a tribute, the Regional Sunday School Director, Rev. Thomas Bosomtwe, praised Rev. Ayesu for his unwavering support for the department and his exemplary leadership across the region.
Expressing his appreciation, Rev. Ayesu thanked the department’s leadership and teachers for their dedication and sacrifices in sustaining sound biblical teaching within local churches. He encouraged Sunday School teachers to adopt innovative, relevant teaching methods to effectively reach people of all ages, particularly the youth.
The event also celebrated sixteen outstanding Sunday School teachers, each representing one of the region’s sixteen districts, for their years of selfless service and commitment to Christian education. The awards, titled the Long Service and Outstanding Teachers Awards, aimed to inspire continued excellence and devotion to the work of the Lord.

- Madam Mary Kyei Yeboah (Mataheko)
- Mr. Joseph Fiifi Sam (Ablekuma/Gbawe)
- Mr. Setsofia Kwabla (Adenta)
- Mr. Kingsley Owusu Ampaw (Pokuase)
- Mr. Simon Atsu Amegbor (Ngleshie Amanfro)

In addition, Pastor Matthew Agude, Bro. Bernard Klomegah, and Rev. Abraham Tengey were specially recognized for their dedication and exemplary leadership within the Sunday School Department.
The ceremony highlighted the region’s commitment to strengthening Christian education and recognizing those whose faithful service continues to shape the spiritual growth of generations.
