The Lay President of the Methodist Church Ghana, Bro. Kwesi Attah Antwi, has paid a pastoral visit to the Kukuaville society at Bamiankor Circuit of the Sekondi Diocese following the collapse of the circuit’s historic church building.
The structure, which once served as a mission house for early Methodist missionaries in Axim, held deep spiritual and historical significance for the local congregation. According to the Church Steward, the building collapsed in November 2024. Since then, members have continued to worship in the church’s primary school compound, thanks to the support and approval of the headteacher.
During the visit, Bro. Kwesi Attah Antwi offered heartfelt encouragement and reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to walking with the Bamiankor society during this difficult season. His presence was a strong show of solidarity and compassion from the national leadership.
The Diocesan Bishop of Sekondi, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Kwesi Ansah, also addressed the congregation. He praised their faith and resilience and assured them of the diocese’s support. He further revealed that the diocese has established a support initiative known as the Methodist Macedonia Club, which is dedicated to helping small and struggling societies build their chapels. He urged the congregation not to lose hope but rather to spread the good news that the Church in Bamiankor will indeed rise again.
The Superintendent Minister of the Kukuaville society at Bamiankor Circuit, Very Rev. Justice Asamoah, expressed deep appreciation for the visit. He highlighted the commitment of the local leadership and congregation to begin the rebuilding process.
Though the building has fallen, the mission continues and the faith of the Bamiankor society remains unshaken. With united support and unwavering hope, the rebuilding of this sacred place is already underway in spirit.
An open appeal was also made to the entire Methodist Church Ghana—both at home and abroad—to contribute towards the reconstruction of the chapel.
