Methodist Church Ghana Commissions 58 New Ministers

The Methodist Church Ghana has commissioned 58 newly trained ministers into the probation ministry during a solemn service held at the Kofi Ohene Konadu Auditorium, University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

The event, attended by over 2,000 church members, clergy, traditional authorities, and ecumenical partners, marked the commencement of a new chapter.

The ministers will enter a three‑year probation period beginning October 1, 2025, serving in various circuits across Ghana.

During this period, they will preach and carry out pastoral duties, but will not be permitted to administer sacraments like Holy Communion until their ordination.

Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev. Prof. Johnson Kwabena Asamoah‑Gyadu, delivered the episcopal charge.

He emphasized on the importance of calling and moral integrity in ministry as:

“Christian Ministry can be fulfilled by the genuine call of God”

“Christian ministry can come through personal and moral choices”

He further urged the candidates to persevere as the single importance of perseverance is to overcome.

The Presiding bishop further urged the probationers to live lives marked by authenticity and conviction, grounded in a genuine sense of calling, moral decision‑making, and resilience.

Family members and spouses were acknowledged for their essential support throughout the ministers’ formation.

The commissioning concluded with prayers and a commitment to community service, as the newly commissioned ministers prepare to undertake ministerial duties aligned with Methodist Church Ghana’s vision for faith‑based community transformation.
