“Where Are the Men of Power?” — Ps. Eastwood Anaba asks

Pastor Eastwood Anaba has issued a stirring call to church leaders and believers to return to the power and holiness that characterized the early church, lamenting that too many ministers today have lost the spiritual fervour needed to transform lives.

Preaching on 24th Sept, 2025 at the Assemblies of God, Holy Hill Chapel, Circle Accra, headed by Rev. Dr. Kwadwo Bempah; Pastor Anaba declared that “too many stories are not changing” because there are fewer “men who can lay hands and eyes will open” in the church. He drew a sharp contrast between the advances of medical science and the diminishing number of believers walking in the miraculous power promised by Christ.

“Eye specialists are doing their best with surgeries, eye drops and laser treatments,” he said, “but where are the men who open their eyes? The population of these eye-opening men, walking men, dead-raising men are reducing and reducing until we are beginning to change our theology.”

Quoting Mark 16:17–18, he reminded the congregation that Jesus expected His followers to cast out devils, heal the sick, and work miracles, even in an age of advanced medicine and technology. “Doctors will do the surgery, engineers will build the bridges, lawyers will argue in court, but Lord, where are your men?” he prayed.

Pastor Anaba also turned the spotlight on ministers themselves, warning that some have lost the sense of sacred responsibility that comes with shepherding souls. “Where are the holy men? Where are the fasting and praying men? We sin like everybody else and forget that we are carrying the destinies of people in our hands,” he charged.

He likened the pastoral calling to standing in the gap for souls whose eternal destinies could depend on the seriousness of their spiritual leaders. Citing Ezekiel 22:30, he recalled God’s words: “And I sought for a man to stand in the gap for the people … but I found no man.”

Pastor Anaba urged pastors, prophets, and church leaders to recover the weight of their calling beyond the clerical robes and titles. “Man of God, woman of God, do you understand the gravity of what you are carrying?” he asked. “Or is it just a clerical or a cross you are wearing?”

He made a plea for a new generation of consecrated, Spirit-filled leaders who will fast, pray, and act with integrity, so that the destinies of those under their care are transformed by the power of God rather than left to chance.
